Head study

Head study
2017
Oil on linen
50 x 40 cm

Notes: Painted in less than 2 hours. I keep telling myself it's not about having not enough time, the main task is that the local colour/tone of each "spot" must be related well to each other, even in a quick oil sketch. Form is defined by adjusting the edges (both quality/position) of these colour spots. In the last instance, character is given by the careful adjustments of these transitions, being careful not to muddle up the initial lay-in. I will write more about my observations on painting in a proper post sometime.
